Many of our boots can be custom made to accomodate wider calves and/or thighs. We can also custom make some of our standard patent boots in leather. If you see a boot you want in a size, material or color that isn't listed on the shopping cart, please e-mail us with your requirements and we will let you know if we can custom make a boot for you.
Actual heel heights vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. To some, a 5'' heel is a 5'' heel whether it measures 4-1/2'' or 5-1/2''. To others size DOES matter and we realize this.
Some manufacturers are selling 6'' heels that don't measure 6'' even in the larger sizes. We have contacted them to verify heel height and in what size the heels measure what they've told us.
We have tried to get actual heel measurements in varying shoe and boot sizes. Where we can, we have indicated the actual heel height.
Here are some high heel facts
Single Sole Shoes or shoes without a platform
1: Most shoes are manufactured in China, Taiwan or other ''cheap labor'' cities. These locations operate with the metric system rather than our US inches. They buy their heels in 12cm lengths, which equates to 4-3/4''. Shoe manufacturers round this off to 5''. Most shoes and boots made domestically buy in bulk the same way as the foreign manufacturers.
2: Shoe manufacturers buy in bulk in order to remain competitive. This means (with most manufacturers) every shoe in every size uses the same heel, rather than proportionally adjusting the heel height for the shoe size so the angle of the shoe remains consistent throughout a size range.
3: You are NOT going to find the same quality in a low priced, mass produced shoe or boot that you would find in quality foorwear! For $29 do NOT expect leather or genuine patent leather or quality or consistency in manufacturing. A good quality plain 5'' spike heel patent leather shoe should sell for $79 to $100 or more. Fetish heels above 5'' run $150 and higher. We sell both low budget and made to order shoes and boots. In the words of the prophet, ''You get what you pay for!''
Platform Shoes and Boots
1: Platforms are made from a molded plastic bottom called a Unit. NOBODY makes units in 1/2 sizes! if you see someone selling platform shoes or boots in 1/2 sizes, they MIGHT be adjusting the uppers to compensate for the difference in 1/2 sizes, but the base of the shoes, the Unit is only made in WHOLE sizes!
2: Platform heel heights are indeed acurate. A platform shoe or boot sold as a 5'', 6'' 7'' or other heel height IS that heel height.
3: Our made to order 8'', 12'' and 16'' heel platform shoe and boot platforms are not molded plastic units. They are made from cork in order to keep the weight down. Patent or genuine calf leather coverings go over the cork base.
